UK Round Two ! !

So in all the years that Melee has been a band, we have always dreamed about playing shows in Europe. It's now June 2007 and we're getting ready to go to the UK for the second time this year! Damnn...when did that happen?! It's one of those things that no matter what happens in life, personally or collectively, we will always have this amazing memory and moment between four best friends, who somehow managed to make it across the sea to play some songs we wrote in our bedrooms.

I personally haven't gotten any of my stuff ready for the trip, but I work well under pressure haha. So we leave tomorrow and arrive in the UK on friday. We're playing a festival called the "O2 Wireless". We play earlier in the day on the Mainstage with The Kaiser Chief's headlining. I feel a bit more prepared and less anxious about traveling over seas than previously. When we went in February I had never been, so I had no idea what to expect and felt slightly overwhelmed. This time I have a good grasp of what is to come and am only feeling excitement! Especially excited about the food! Everyone always says the food sucks, but that's not true. That's been left said too vaguely. What they're referring to is "English" food, which I suppose is a bit of an acquired taste, but everything else there...wow...!!

I'm also stoked to see what bands are big over there. Obviously the UK is a bit ahead of the game when it comes to music than most places in the world. When we were there earlier, Amy Winehouse was all over the place. She's amazing and now all over America, which is great!

Anyways, we've been home for a week or so, played an intensely great sold out - first ever - headlining show at The Roxy (which felt like Melee's Bar Mitzvah). Chris had a birthday yesterday, Mike grew some more chest hair and Ryan remains the funniest dude I know. I have been catching up on movies that I've missed while on tour. I finally got a chance to see "Pans Labyrinth"! Very visually stimulating and mentally compelling. And underneath the fantasy and story I found it to be an interesting social commentary dealing with how the world has changed drastically since the events of 9/11. Definitely worth checking out.

Well, time to get my day started....

Have a good summer ;)
